Knowles Corporation has partnered with Ultimate Ears Pro on the release of the UE Premier in-ear monitor system, featuring a five-way crossover design with 21 drivers per earpiece.
Balanced armatures (BAs) are a staple of IEM design with their high HF output, small form factor and low power consumption. UE Premier combines two products from Knowles in its design – eight patented dual-diaphragm BA receivers and four supertweeters. The dual-diaphragm BA has a first-peak resonance of 3kHz (the same as the human ear canal) while the supertweeter achieves an ultra-high frequency extension of up to 40kHz.
Specialty components from Knowles enable UE Premier to exceed listener expectations, with an impressive frequency range of 5Hz to 40kHz. In addition to its expertise in BA design, Knowles employs a highly automated manufacturing operation of BAs that enables consistency, acoustic performance with tightened tolerances, and improved supply chain traceability. This ensures Ultimate Ears Pro has a sturdy supply of quality components for the demanding 21-driver design.
