L-Acoustics has added the Xi Series to its X Series of coaxial loudspeakers, designed to meet the demands of ‘every type of integration project that requires powerful, premium sound in a discrete format that can seamlessly blend into any room architecture’.

The Xi Series offers a range of installation-focused coaxial enclosures with distinct formats, bandwidth and SPL capabilities for short throw applications. These enclosures provide high sound quality and discreet design, allowing them to integrate elegantly into venues requiring natural and powerful sound. The X6i and X8i are well suited to vocal or musical reinforcement in small theatres, live clubs, hospitality spaces, houses of worship, broadcasting and recording studios.

L-Acoustics X6i/X8i ‘The Xi Series represents a significant leap forward in meeting the diverse demands of premium installations,’ says L-Acoustics Director of Product Management, Germain Simon. ‘The refined acoustic and physical design combines with a plethora of simple yet purposeful accessories to ensure premium professional audio can be created in any space.’

One of the key features of the Xi Series is its coaxial driver technology, which allows a compact design to deliver constant tonal balance over distance. This ensures smooth coverage for off-axis audiences, eliminates the need for a minimum listening distance, and provides high feedback rejection. With an exceptional bandwidth-to-size ratio, the Xi Series boasts L-Vents to deliver clear low-frequency power and features a weather resistant IP55 rating, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.

The X6i and X8i feature slender, streamlined designs that seamlessly integrate into high-end architectural settings while providing clear, studio-like sound. These passive loudspeakers employ a 1.5-inch neodymium compression driver paired with a 6-inch or 8-inch low-frequency transducer in a bass reflex cabinet. The 90° axisymmetric directivity imparts a smooth tonal response, free of secondary lobes over the full frequency range.

Both loudspeakers have two presets, allowing them to adapt to the acoustic needs of different projects and subwoofer coupling configurations. In their native presets for vocal reinforcement or when used alongside a subwoofer, the X6i boasts a maximum SPL of 123dB and a frequency response down to 69Hz, while the X8i features a maximum SPL of 129dB and a frequency response down to 67Hz. For standalone applications and close proximity listening experiences, the X6i_50 preset delivers full-range sound reproduction down to 54Hz and produces a maximum SPL of 117dB. The X8i_40 preset reaches 43Hz, delivering a maximum SPL of 123dB.

L-Acoustics’ Xi Series’ X6i and X8i loudspeakers ship in Q2 2024.
