JBL Professional has extended its AE Series of installation loudspeakers with the AW (All Weather) Series – a family of high-power, lightweight, two-way, full-range loudspeaker systems designed for a wide variety of applications.
The line features five models: the AW295, AW266, AW526, AW595 and AW566. The loudspeakers use JBL’s Differential Drive dual voice coil and dual magnetic gap low-frequency 12- and 15-inch woofers, and 2432H high-frequency 38mm (1.5-inch) exit, 75mm (3-inch) voice coil compression driver. The large-format Progressive Transition waveguides manage the high-frequency coverage patterns, and are rotatable so the loudspeaker system can be used in either a vertical or horizontal orientation.
The enclosures are constructed of multilayer glass composite and are heavily braced to maximise low-frequency performance. The 14-gauge stainless steel grille, backed with open cell foam and stainless steel mesh, provides protection against harsh environments.
The AW Series speakers are equipped with a 400W 70/100V transformer. A heavy-duty stainless steel U-type mounting bracket is included and allows for easy installation on flat surfaces or in 90° corners.
‘The AW Series loudspeakers are ideal for use in outdoor applications that include sports facilities, themed entertainment venues, outdoor entertainment centres, cruise ships and water parks,’ says Senior Manager of Installed Sound, Jon Sager. ‘These loudspeakers deliver the same high output and intelligibility for which the AE Series is known, with the added benefit of being able to perform in extreme weather conditions.’
