The Dynaudio Acoustics PLM3A bundle combines the company’s M3A monitors with Lab.gruppen amplification and Lake processing for a complete audio monitoring package.
Dynaudio Acoustics M3A three-way monitors come with a Lab.gruppen PLM 10000Q amplifier and Lake/TC Electronic processing. The speakers feature a pair of 300mm bass drivers, complemented by two 150mm piston mid-range drivers and a high-power version of the 28mm Esotec T-330 DA dome tweeter. All of the drivers are ferrofluid cooled.
The PLM 10000Q amplifier delivers 4 x 2.3kW at 4Ω and is based on technology from Lab.gruppen’s FP+ series. This uses a proprietary class-TD amplifier design – combining the efficiency of class-D amplification with the sonic purity of class-B designs. A new circuit provides substantially greater current-carrying capabilities and the Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS) is optimised to deliver full power during long low-frequency bursts as well as maintain stable rail voltages despite fluctuating line voltage. Advanced cross-overs inside the PLM 10000Q feed its four output stages, allowing for optimised RMS and true-peak limiter settings for the low and mid/high drivers.
The PLM 10000Q also holds two Lake Processor modules, each offering control over gain, delay, crossover slope, equalisation and limiting, to correct, shape and optimise any sound source for any control room. Exclusive Lake Processing algorithms are included for Raised Cosine Equalization, linear phase crossovers, LimiterMax loudspeaker protection and Iso-Float ground isolation. Raised Cosine Equalization is the foundation for the Lake Mesa EQ and the Ideal Graphic EQ, the two EQ interfaces used by the Dolby Lake Processor. Mesa EQ offers asymmetric filtering to match the asymmetric responses of many loudspeaker systems while the Ideal Graphic EQ offers sum-to-flat response.
