After updating the A14-M studio monitor, PSI Audio has given similar treatment to its A17-M with an improved high-frequency driver enhancing accuracy and power e for close-field and immersive set-ups.
Relatively compact in size, the loudspeaker boasts a frequency range of 43Hz to 23kHz using all analogue components. While the woofer remains the same 175mm unit, the updated A17-M draws on the HF driver form the A14-M update last year. In addition to the new tweeter and the adjustments that its implementation required, the A17-M remains the same loudspeaker with the company’s Compensated Phase Response (CPR) and Adaptive Output Impedance (AOI).
‘Developing and manufacturing a tweeter is the logical continuation of the general philosophy of PSI Audio,’ the company says. ‘While market-bought solutions may work fine in some cases, achieving perfection is only possible when every part, every bit of the product is made precisely as it is needed. That is why PSI Audio manufactures the overwhelming majority of components in the company’s own facility in Switzerland – from coils for the drivers to final calibration of the finished speaker in the anechoic chamber, every step of production lies in the hands of PSI Audio staff. The measuring protocol each and every product comes with is a testament to the care and precision with which these speakers are built.’
