PreSonus has unveiled the Eris-series of studio reference monitors for studio monitoring and critical listening.
The Eris E8 features an 8-inch, Kevlar low-frequency transducer driven by a 75W class-AB power amplifier, and a 1.25-inch (32 mm) silk-dome tweeter with a 65W, class-AB amplifier. It can deliver up to 105dB SPL peak with a response of 45Hz to 22kHz.
The compact Eris E5 uses a 5.25-inch, Kevlar LF driver with a 45W class-AB amplifier, and a 1-inch (25mm) silk-dome tweeter powered by a 35W class-AB amplifier. It can deliver 102dB SPL peak with a frequency response of 64Hz to 22kHz.
Both models have individual balanced XLR and quarter-inch TRS input connections, in addition to unbalanced RCA inputs. Both offer RF shielding, current-output limiting, over-temperature protection, and subsonic protection.
Custom set-up adjustments include a four-position Acoustic Space switch, which controls a second-order shelf filter centreed at 800Hz with three attenuation points (Flat, -2dB and -4dB). A High Pass switch sets the low-frequency cutoff (second-order slope, -12dB/octave) to be flat, 80Hz or 100Hz. There are also continuously adjustable High Frequency and Midrange controls ±6dB.
The Eris E8 and E5 are expected to be available in April 2013.
