Sonodyne has announced the PM studio monitor loudspeaker range for multichannel applications.
The smaller of the two available models, the PM 50 features a 5.25-inch polyproylene cone woofer, and 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Internally powered at 100W (LF: 50W, HF: 50W) it delivers 104dB. The larger PM 100 features a 6.5-inch injected pp cone woofer and 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Internally powered at 130W (LF: 80Hz, HF: 50W) it delivers 107dB with bass response extending to 50Hz. Inserts on the base allow for secure mounting.
The enclosures are solid MDF with heavy internal bracing. The design is rear ported and turbulence noises are minimised. The custom cone woofers and the silk dome tweeters are tested to ensure that they retain fidelity at high SPLs. The class-AB bi-amplifier is reliable and efficient. Low noise circuitry is used throughout. The transformer is a toroidal type. Onboard features include EQ tilts for HF and LF, and level control.
