Tascam has introduced three TM-series condenser microphones and TM-AM-series microphone stands and booms for podcasters and videographers.
Primarily for personal podcasting and other talkshows but also useful for recording group interviews and corporate meetings, the unidirectional (half supercardioid) TM-90BM boundary condenser microphone is designed for picking up multiple voices. It can handle sources as loud as 140dB SPL without distorting, while a Bass Tilt switch attenuates bass frequencies for better speech intelligibility, or boosts low frequencies when recording pianos, drums or other musical sources. Only 24mm high, the TM-90BM’s flat, compact black design minimises its visibility, and it is accompanied by a carry case and 2.9m cable with XLR connector.
The TM-95GN gooseneck electret condenser mic has a unidirectional (cardioid) pickup pattern and comes with a dedicated stable mic stand with on/off switch. A windscreen is included for reducing vocal pop noise. Included is a 2.4m XLR microphone cable.
The TM-150SG supercardioid shotgun microphone (with microphone clip shoe mount) can handle up to 124dB SPL, and its included windscreen and built-in low-cut filter make it well suited to outdoor applications. A hard carry case and mic screw adapter are included.
The TM-AM stand series starts with the TM-AM1 microphone stand, which includes a counterweight for the stability to support heavier microphones. The height of the main pole can be adjusted between 90mm and 1.42m and an expandable second boom can be connected to the centre shaft. The second boom’s height can be adjusted between 580-900mmA 5/8inch-to-3/8inch mic screw adapter enables connection of virtually any standard microphone cradle.
Tascam’s TM-AM2 adjustable broadcast-style microphone boom stand is a desk- and table-mount solution, clamping to tabletops up to 55mm thick. Its 520mm scissor-type boom arm reliably keeps a microphone positioned for hands-free recording and podcasting. When dismounted, it can be folded for storage or transport. The TM-AM2 comes with mic screw adapter.
Similar to speaker and camera tripods, the TM-AM3 microphone stand sets up among existing gear, such as cymbal stands, cables and other mic stands. The main pole’s height can be adjusted between 11–1620mm. A counterweight balances the weight of microphones and prevents the expandable second boom from moving. As with the TM-AM1, the second boom can be connected to the centre shaft, and its height can be adjusted between 580–900mm. The TM-AM3 includes a mic screw adapter.
