Audio-Technica has announced U851RO Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone.

A-T U851ROFeaturing ‘audio and mechanical design innovations’, the mic’s intended applications include high-quality sound reinforcement, recording, television and conferencing.

The U851RO’s small-diameter UniPoint capsule is placed near the boundary to eliminate phase distortion, while a UniSteep filter provides a steep low-frequency attenuation to improve sound pick-up across its 30Hz-20kHz response without affecting voice quality. UniGuard RFI-shielding technology offers rejection of radio frequency interference and self-contained electronics eliminate the need for an external power module.

The mic it is equipped with a PivotPoint rotating output connector, allowing the cable to exit from either the rear or the bottom of the microphone It accepts interchangeable condenser elements in cardioid and hypercardioid polar patterns.
