iCon Pro Audio has introduces the Space series of large-diaphragm condenser microphones with the Cocoon and Martian, promising ‘a fusion of vintage-sounding clarity with bold, intergalactic design’.
Cocoon uses an electrostatic Golden Drop transducer in space-age capsule architecture, featuring a 33mm (active) diameter diaphragm of pure 999 gold. Its class-A discrete electronics are built by hand in Latvia using highest-quality components to achieve 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range; a cardioid polar pattern; 21mV/Pa sensitivity at 1kHz into 1kΩ load; 50Ω output impedance; 1kΩ rated load impedance; 138dB maximum SPL for 0.5% THD at 1kΩ load; 85dB-A S/N Ratio DIN/IEC 651 (A-weighted); 8dB-A equivalent noise level DIN/IEC (A-weighted); and 130dB microphone preamplifier dynamic range. ~It is presented with a shockmount and metal pop-filter.
Martian also features a space-age shockmounted capsule with an electrostatic Golden Drop transducer made of pure 999 gold on a 26mm (active) diameter diaphragm. Martian also has a full-body shockmount. Optimum placement of the pop filter is achived with rotation of Martian’s head. Its class-A discrete electronics housed in a durable metal die-cast body built by hand in Latvia. Specs include 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response; 33mV/Pa sensitivity at 1kHz into 1kΩ load; 50Ω output impedance; 1000 Ω rated load impedance; 134dB maximum SPL for 0.5% THD at 1kΩ load; 83.2dB-A S/N Ratio DIN/IEC 651 (A-weighted); 10.5dB-A equivalent noise level DIN/IEC (A-weighted); and 123.5dB microphone preamplifier dynamic range.
Cocoon and Martian will begin shipping through iCon Pro Audio’s network of dealers/distributors in Q2 2021 with an MAP of US$499 and US$699 respectively.
