Audix has released the A127 Omnidirectional Metal Film Condenser Microphone for critical recording.
The culmination of years of R&D in condenser technology, the A127 is an omnidirectional mic that uses a reference-grade, half-inch Type 1 metal film capsule for the capture of acoustic instruments ‘with transparency, accuracy and purity’.
With a frequency response of 10Hz-20kHz, a dynamic range of 133dB and an ultra-low self-noise of 7dBA, the A127 is intended for use in professional studio recording, broadcast, film and sound design.
Its capsule design features a precision-tuned, 3-micron metal diaphragm for exceptionally detailed and reliable performance. The A127 circuit is designed and built to exacting specifications and is coupled to the capsule by a series of driven shields to protect the microphone from external interference and capacitive coupling. The mechanical components of the gold-plated shield and the corrosion-resistant housing are precision-machined by Audix in Wilsonville, Oregon.
‘The A127 offers an exceptional level of detail and realism owing to its half-inch Type 1 metal film reference-grade capsule,’ says Audix VP of Sales & Marketing, Steve Johnson. ‘Featuring low-noise circuitry and innovative driven-shield protection, the A127 accurately captures a wide dynamic range of acoustic sound sources – in both the near field and far field – without artifact.’
