Austrian Audio has announced the OD303 dynamic vocal microphone.

‘The OD303 focuses on what’s important – the best possible sound for your vocal performance,’ the company says. ‘t is well-balanced and open, but at the same time its powerful sound is unparalleled in this price range.’

Weighing 330g, the OD303 has a frequency response of 35Hz–6kHz, sensitivity of 1.8mV/Pa and offers an impedance od 1.2kΩ (symmetrical).

Its rugged construction insures the OD303 against the rigours of daily use in the rehearsal room and the wear and tear of the road. The manufacturer claims that thedie-cast housing is ‘virtually indestructible’. The  also incorporates the Open Acoustic technology of Austrian Audio, which delivers an optimally-shaped supercardioid polar pattern across a wide frequency band and with excellent feedback stability.

Due to the open design, there are only minimal changes in sound and feedback behaviour when holding the mic close to the head grille. In addition, the proprietary 3D Pop Noise Diffuser, developed by Austrian Audio, reduces noise caused by plosives such as ‘T’ and ‘P’.
