Mojave Audio’s MA-50 Large-Diaphragm Transformerless Condenser Microphone uses the same capsule as the company’s MA-200 and MA-201fet studio models, handling SPLs up to 140dB. With the microphone’s fast transient response this makes itwell suited to capturing vocal performances, voiceovers, acoustic instruments, Foley/ADR, as well as percussion instruments and use as drum overheads.
The new MA-50 employs a large-diaphragm, fixed-cardioid polar pattern design with a 3-micron capsule giving an extremely low noise floor. ‘The combination of low self-noise, great transient response, and high SPL handling capability make this mic an excellent choice for a wide range of recording applications,’ says Mojave Audio President, Dusty Wakeman, ‘As a result, it’s equally at home in the professional studio as it is the home project studio. I genuinely believe the combination of features and affordability will make the MA-50 one of our most popular microphones going forward.’
The Mojave Audio MA-50 carries an MSRP of US$495 and ships with a shockmount that provides excellent acoustic isolation.
