Tascam has released v1.5 firmware for its Sonicview 16XP/24XP digital recording and mixing consoles, bringing improved overall functionality for their use in studio work, relay programming and live programming.

Sonicview 16XP/24XP digital recording and mixing consolesTascam Sonicview consoles offer 64-input/64-output Dante operation, a 96kHz, 32-bit multichannel USB audio interface, onboard 32-track multitrack SD recording, Class 1 HDIA Premium mic preamplifiers, and wealth of I/O. There is a 96 kHz, 54-bit float FPGA mixing engine, and the consoles offer continuous high-definition 96kHz sampling using 32-bit A/D converters. The mixing engine’s float-point processing makes it possible to flexibly change levels without compromising resolution, and the FPGA mixing engine ensures ultra-low latency of 0.51ms, even with analogue-to-analogue signal paths.

The firmware update includes a new Monitor 2 section, a Monitor 1/2 Direct Output signal to the output router with a level control, provideing greater flexibility and control over how monitor signals can be managed. Providing further versatility, v1.5 provides the capability for a talkback input source to be selected from any input source. The talkback can be output to any of the Mix 1-22 buses, the Main LR output, and can be added to the Ext 1/2 direct output.

Version 1.5 also adds dimmer functions for Talkback, Monitor 1, Monitor 2 and the output bus, which is assigned as the talkback target. The new Solo Direct Output can be assigned via an output router.

User-defined control using the consoles’ 18 User Keys now includes are monitor and talkback function assignments, and an Oscillator On/Off function has also been added. These features give broadcasters improved workflow, along with the new enhanced communication functions. For studio and broadcast applications, a monitor loudspeaker can now be automatically muted when an input microphone is sensed. Additionally, the update includes faster Snapshot recall transition time, making it easier to access pre-defined set-ups.

Version 1.5 update adds Sync Clock Accuracy High/Normal operation for the internal Dante input and the Slot input. The the new Solo/Mute Fader transition time option can be set to Default/Mid/Slow.

Complementary to these enhancements is the Sonicview Control app for MacOS, Windows, and iPad iOS will be updated for better remote capabilities.
