A lot of equipment that has to be connected to professional audio systems isn’t level, impedance or compatible with professional balanced lines. Among these sources are computers, MP3 players, DVD/CD decks, audio for video, drum machines, synthesisers, guitars… At some stage, all need linking to balanced inputs, whether the application is live sound, studio or broadcast.
