Avid has announced new software for its Venue S6L live sound system – Venue 5.3 include, 128-track Avid Pro Tools recording and playback over Ethernet AVB, multiple user-definable fader layouts, Matrix Spill and support for the new Madi-192 Madi Option Card.

Venue 5.3 software allows recording and playback of up to 128 tracks to and from Pro Tools over Ethernet AVB with no separate interface required, providing live sound engineers with record and playback of performances for archiving and virtual soundchecks. The update also expands S6L’s user-definable fader layouts feature, enabling creation and recall of up to 24 custom fader layouts directly from the control surface. Engineers can assign inputs, outputs, VCAs and groups to any fader and instantly recall them, allowing the creation of custom layouts for all key workflows to keep the most critical channels at their fingertips. Another control surface enhancement is Matrix Spill, which provides quick control of the members of each matrix using the faders.

Venue 5.3 also supports the new Madi-192 Madi Option Card that offers bi-directional Madi connectivity to a host of industry devices, including Waves SoundGrid systems. Engineers can now run Waves plug-ins alongside Venue S6L’s onboard AAX DSP plug-ins.

‘Waves is excited to see the S6L join the currently expanding list of consoles that work with Waves SoundGrid, giving users easy access to Waves plug-ins on Venue S6L,’ says Waves EVP of Sales & Marketing, Mick Olesh. ‘This cooperation is in line with our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the freedom to use Waves plug-ins in all settings and environments.’

‘Venue 5.3 Software delivers significant enhancements to Venue S6L customers, including some of the most requested features,’ says Dana Ruzicka, VP and Chief Product Officer at Avid. ‘This update gives live sound engineers using the system the flexibility and efficiency they need to support the biggest performances.’

Customers with a valid Avid support plan can download Venue 5.3 software from their Avid Account free of charge.
