The Namm Show, has seen Universal Audio released its Studer A800 multichannel tape recorder plug-in for the UAD-2 platform.
Created by UA DSP engineers with assistance from AES magnetic recording expert Jay McKnight, the plug-in models the tape path and circuit electronics of the hardware, along with the characteristics of four different tape formulas.
The plug-in offere control over tape saturation and overdrive, as well as magnetic tape sound without calibration, maintenance, tape degradation. There is also a choice of IPS Speed/Emphasis Curve – 7.5ips NAB, 7.5ips CCIR, 15ips NAB, 15is CCIR and 30ips AES. The plug-in supports 24-plus tracks with a single UAD-2 Quad DSP accelerator package.
