Bringing its multi-touch control to the iPad and iPhone, Lemur has moved outside the hardware approach that took it into the studios of Daft Punk, Deadmau5, Richie Hawtin, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Björk.
Connected via Wi-Fi or USB Midi, Lemur allows control of multiple elements of a music through existing templates or those created with its drag-and-drop editor.
With the original hardware version introduced in 2004, the iOS controller app can control DJ software, live electronic music performance software, studio production software (DAWs), VJ software, visual synthesis software and stage lighting – any software or hardware that can be controlled by Midi or OSC can be controlled by Lemur.
The company claims that its physics engine (which can make faders and balls bounce) allows ‘anything from a slight organic feel to absolutely chaotic modulations’.
