BAE Audio has released the R53 three-slot horizontal 500 series rack.
The 1U-high rack provides an efficient way to integrate three lunchbox signal processors into a recording or live system. The convenient layout and integrated linking is also perfect for combining a preamp, EQ, and compressor into a custom channel strip.
The unit accommodates any three 500 series units in a single rack space thanks to its horizontal configuration. The rack eliminates studio clutter with its robust built-in power supply for surefire reliability. Switchable linking on the front of the unit lets users pass signal from one slot to the next, allowing users to easily cascade a preamp into an EQ and then into a compressor without patching, or integrate other sound-shaping tools into a cohesive signal path.
The R53 boasts the same rugged construction as BAE Audio’s larger 500 series racks, with a durable steel chassis, shielded wires on individual connectors, and Neutrik XLR inputs and outputs.
‘The handy horizontal configuration of three slots creates exciting customisation possibilities for fashioning custom single-rack-space channel strips out of BAE Audio 500 series components,’ says BAE Audio President, Mark Loughman. ‘Our users can now easily combine their favorite BAE preamp like the 1073MP or 312A, with an EQ like the B15 or G10, and the compression of the new 500C FET Compressor for a powerful a versatile R53 channel strip. Better still, swapping a different component in for a different flavour is a snap.’
The R53 is available now at a price of US$450 'unloaded', or US$2,736 'loaded' with the BAE 312, G10 and 500C units.
