MAAT Incorporated has released thEQred, a cross platform equalisation and enhancement plug–in, joining MAAT’s first thEQ family release, thEQorange.
Red brings the reference quality of Algorithmix’s Linear Phase PEQ Red to a contemporary, cross–platform audio equaliser, with ‘extraordinary smoothness’ through frequency–based equalisation. As with other members of thEQ family, Red uses complex 80-bit, floating-point internal architecture, sophisticated signal windowing, and applied calculation precision.
Several features of thEQred contribute to MAAT’s ‘maximum workflow efficiency’ philosophy, including Contribution Control. New to the product family is VariSlope technology, proprietary to thEQred. With VariSlope, shelving and cut filters offer continuous adjustment of slope from near zero to 24dB/octave. The combination of linear phase and VariSlope promises smooth, controlled spectral changes without any phase shift or group delay.
The plug–in supports all current formats, including cross–platform AAX, VST 2 and VST 3 as well as AU for macOS. Sample rates up to 384kHz are supported for postproduction of true HRA workflows. Perpetual and annual subscription licenses for thEQred are available now, exclusively from MAAT. An annual thEQlp subscription includes both of MAAT’s linear phase equalisers, thEQred and thEQorange. Images and additional information, including user manuals and videos, are accessible anytime at MAAT’s website.
‘What I love about thEQred is being able to combine this utterly transparent equaliser with my [outboard] hardware,’ says mastering engineer Bob Olhsson, ‘It simply doesn’t screw anything up while adding whatever EQ tweaks I can imagine. Also, the continuous-slope shelving is amazing, especially with natural-sounding acoustic recordings.’
