A new release of the Soundtheory Gullfoss intelligent equaliser plug-in enables it to used for live music mixing and live broadcast applications, as well as for tracking.
The established version of Gullfoss for mixing and mastering in the studio is now accompanied by Gullfoss Live, which is optimised for low-latency situations including tracking and live mixing. At a latency of <2ms (compared to approximately 20ms for the regular version) Gullfoss Live delivers high sound quality while retaining the existing feature set.
Accoring to the company, ‘The sound gains a little more character as the low-latency algorithm treats transients differently. This difference also makes Gullfoss Live an alternative for mixing and mastering music styles with very pronounced transients.’
Gullfoss gains support for sidechain processing to enable stem mastering, content-driven ducking and creative sound-design. The EQ display gain scale can now be changed to allow subtle movements to be observed.
The new EQ engine found in v1.9.0 improves on sound quality with a new algorithm that claims a ‘smoother high-end and a warmer low-end that will satisfy the most critical listeners’. CPU performance is also improved at very high sampling rates.
