Wavesfactory – the company behind Echo Cat, Trackspacer, Tack Piano and Mercury – has announced the Strum Guitar plug-in. A collection of four guitars for Kontakt, Strum Guitar includes real strumming patterns with built-in chord recogniser and sequencer among other features.
Strum Guitar is a collection of four guitars where all strums were sampled both up and down stroke. The technique used to sample these is the same one that guitarists use – not all strings are struck, depending on the velocity of the hand.
Strum Guitar contains all major and minor chords, upstroke and downstroke, from electric, acoustic, electric 12 string and acoustic 12 string guitars. It Includes an intelligent built-in sequencer with chord recognition that will analyse and play chords in a realistic way and with extra feature to make it adapt to the needs of the song.
The plug-in also has a mixer to control the guitars separately, a selection of effects including EQ, compression, modulation, distortion, saturation, reverbs, amplifier simulators, tape machine and a fully featured sequencer.
The settings page provides control of any parameter, and includes round-robin, velocity curve shaping of incoming Midi notes, volumes of the fret and string noises and envelope for controlling the attack and release times.
Strum Guitar works with Kontakt 5.7.3 and newer versions – full version of Kontakt required. Kontakt Player will run in demo mode. Strum Guitar will ship at €79.
