Sharing some of the features of the eight-channel Súper 8 mic preamp/192kHz ADC released concurrently, Heritage Audio’s OST-8 Adat represents a ready means of increasing an audio interface’s capacity and capabilities. The 3U rack-mountable 500-Series enclosure accommodates up to eight 500-Series modules and provides a built-in 24-bit/192kHz conversion for connection to a DAW using an Adat Lightpipe cable.
OST-8 also includes Heritage Audio’s OS Technology, keeping every module individually isolated and regulated with its own power supply.
Offering selectable sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz the OST-8 Adat can operate as a master unit or be synchronised as a slave to another via a BNC connector with word clock. Notably neat is its ability to determine whether the signal being converted and sent to the DAW comes directly from the corresponding input (non-processed signal) or from an external source on a per-channel basis. It is possible, therefore, to send the processed signal out to another processor and then return it to OST-8 Adat so it can be converted and sent to the DAW.
OST-8 Adat used gold-plated XLR connectors as well as duplicating all inputs and outputs on DB25 connectors, and a link feature that allows internal connection of a Series-500 module’s output to an adjacent Series-500 module’s input with patch cables.
OST-8 Adat is shipping now with an SSP (Standalone Selling Price) of €1,099 (including VAT) in the EU, and a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of US$999.
