Solid State Logic has expanded its SSL Complete subscription offering with X-Limit, a new plug-in for applications including recording, mixing, mastering and live sound.
X-Limit is a universal binary and features M1 Native support. Users can pick from four limiter characteristics – Transparent, Glue, Punch and Auto, allowing quick but versatile options. Among its features, True Peak mode engages SSL’s True Peak algorithm, ensuring that inter-sample peaks are effectively limited and providing momentary and max True Peak value readouts. Ducking and Steering meters assist in understanding the effect of limiting on the stereo signal, helping guide users towards the ideal amount of channel linking for minimum stereo degradation.
Gain Lock, meanwhile, allows users to lock the applied gain to quickly demo different presets and styles for any given source material, and the Mix Control enables users to dial back processing when using the limiter to add punch rather than catch peaks.
X-Limit gives concise visual feedback of its operation through steering and ducking meters that indicate how the limiting process might influence the stereo image of a signal and indicate how to minimise stereo degradation while using the channel link control. An all-in-one waveform and threshold display assists setting the threshold and ceiling against the incoming signal level.
‘We are delighted at this robust new addition to our plug-in portfolio, giving users another indispensable mixing tool that is both powerful and simple to use.’ says SSL Plug-ins Product Manager, Jon Sandman. ‘Whether you are looking for extremely transparent limiting, colour and punch, or classic SSL glue, X-Limit has you covered.’
Available in formats including VST2, VST3, AAX and AU, X-Limit is part of the SSL Complete subscription, and also available at a cost of US$99.
