Waves Audio has launched the Magma series of plug-ins with the Lil Tube analogue saturation plug-in.
In the days when analogue consoles dominated the studio landscape, running each track through a channel on a desk crafted a natural ‘rough mix’ with friendly distortion that was eradicated by digital signal paths. Waves Lil Tube aims to bring this experience to any DAW.
‘With Lil Tube, every track can sound exceptionally big, with rich tube fatness, texture and saturation, like mixing on a vintage analogue tube console,’ the company says. ‘Offering an unmatched high quality and meticulously custom-modelled analogue sound, akin to the tone of fabled classic tube preamps, Lil Tube is a plug-in that is felt as well as heard.’
Promising incomparable instant warmth, huge depth for more engaging mixes, Lil Tube is simple to use and exceptionally light on CPU resources. With Lil Tube as the first insert on every channel, an analogue-style texture balance is brought to the mix. Pushing the Drive on the parts like lead vocals pulls the tracks ‘closer’ to the listener;
Lil Tube is the first taste of Waves’ Magma series of custom-shop plug-ins, which is to be characterised by a ‘coveted analogue sound with unparalleled attitude and simplicity’.
