Waves Audio has added the Magma Tube Channel Strip plug-in to its custom-shop Magma line-up, the third plug-in in the series joining the Lil Tube analogue saturation plug-in and the BB Tubes saturator.
The Magma Channel is modelled on detailed circuit behaviour of carefully selected vintage tube hardware using the same Waves True Valve Modeling technology used to create the Waves BB Tubes plug-in.
With the Waves Magma Tube Channel Strip, audio can be shaped with the textures of the Magma plug-in, as part of a full channel strip covering all crucial mixing needs – compression/gating, EQ and saturation. This plug-in is built with just a few ‘no-nonsense’ knobs for drive/saturation; EQ lows, mids and highs; compression; and expansion/gating.
The Magma Channel plug-in includes three channel strip modules.
The first offers input drive/saturation, able to run from subtle saturation to full-on harmonic distortion, with soft clipping sound. Magma’s streamlined three-band EQ section allows quick tone shaping, and includes High and Low shelves, plus a Mid wide bell knob with sweepable frequency control. The single-knob compressor goes from gentle glue to a full aggressive pump, with a Smash parameter for ‘extra explosiveness’, with a higher compression ratio and quick attack and release. The expander/gate will help tighten sound with focus and clarity.
Magma Channel comes with hundreds of artist presets created by top producers, mixing and mastering engineers, including Jacquire King, Greg Wells, Joe Chiccarelli, Lu Diaz, Neal H Pogue, Richard Chycki, Ken ‘Pooch’ Van Druten, Matt Schaeffer and Jeff Ellis.
The Magma Tube Channel Strip plug-in is included in the Mercury, Pro Show and SD7 Pro Show Waves bundles.
