AIR Music Technology announced the Air Sprite plug-in, calling it ‘a modern take on the studio hardware staple of the 1980s and 90s – the multi-effects processor’.

As a plug-in, Sprite is able to achive things not possible in a legacy hardware unit, and can be configured to be as simple, or as complex as a user desires. The simple user interface gives ready control over every parameter, offering sound shaping of effects in seconds.

AIR Music TechnologyAir Sprite The company says: ‘unlike many magic or single control plug-ins, the user has access to the secret sauce behind the sound, allowing them to go deeper and craft the effects to audio perfection’.

AIR Sprite’s edit mode allows users to shape every part of the multi-effects as required. There’s enough control to take distortion from a little added warmth to extreme breakup and multiple ways to modulate sounds from a gentle movement to a sweeping jet flanger. Delays can be super clean or reminiscent of gnarly tape, and reverb can sit the effects in anything from a tiny room to a huge stadium. EQ, compression and pitch shifting can be added to make Sprite an effective sound design toolkit where originality is the name of the game.

Further effects include two modulation slots with eight classic modulation types – Flutter, Wow, Tremolo and Auto-pan can be loaded into one slot, with rate, drift, stereo and depth controls as appropriate. The second slot might then offer Chorus, Multi-chorus, Phaser and Flanger with rate, depth, feedback, depth and mix controls.

There is a BPM syncable delay engine with Single, Dual and Cross modes, independent left and right time controls, feedback level and 24 feedback set-ups, width and mix control. The plug-in’s EQ section offers high-cut and low-cut and shelving, and its compressor has assignable routing, attack, release and depth control.

Air Sprite is offered in AU, VST, VST3 and AAX formats for macOS, and VST, VST3 and AAX formats for Windows..
