Waves and Harman Professional have announced the Waves dbx 160 Compressor/Limiter plug-in.
Regarded as one of the best drum compressors, the original dbx 160 compressor was used in recordings throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, with later models in the 160 series also becoming studio standards. Created in collaboration with dbx and authorised by Harman, the Waves dbx 160 plug-in uses advanced modelling to deliver a software alternative in both Native and SoundGrid versions.
Intended for use in the studio and live, the Waves dbx 160 plug-in features an MS matrix, mix and noise controls, and a stereo component (the original hardware was mono only).
‘We at dbx Professional Products are very excited to be working with Waves on the legacy dbx 160 plug-in,’ says Jason Kunz, dbx Market Manager of Recording & Broadcast. ‘The meticulous detail that Waves dedicates to their product development is clearly heard in the finished product.’
‘We are delighted to be working together with Harman, and especially excited about our first release: the Waves dbx 160,’ adds Mick Olesh, Waves EVP Sales & Marketing.
