API has added the 535-LA Line Amplifier to its 500 Series collection. Modelled on API’s highly console-based 325 booster cards, the 535 can amplify and attenuate audio with ‘API’s trademark API warmth and tone’.
The 535-LA is intended for use anywhere signal levels need adjusting – such as inputs from keyboards, audio playback devices and mic preamps or audio processing devices that do not have their own level control.
As well as a clip indicator, it offers polarity switching, a 20dB pad for incoming signal attenuation and a three-position toggle switch, which provides different output gain levels from the transformer. This is designed to drive long balanced lines with low distortion just as the API 32#mce_temp_url#5 booster card does. With a balanced inputm the unit’s output gain range is 6dB–45dB. Internaly, it uses the discrete 2510 and 2520 op-amps along with API’s proprietary transformers.
The 535-LA has an MSRP of US$595.
