Grupo Zónico has been appointed by Outline as its official distributor of the Newton audio processor in Venezuela. This partnership strengthens the company’s position in the market, bringing its signal management technology to local professionals.
A leading name in event production and entertainment technology with more than 20 years’ experience, Grupo Zónico is headed by Hugo Morillo: ‘Newton has been a go-to solution for the most demanding live productions worldwide,’ he says. ‘Its exceptional audio quality and seamless integration with systems from any brand allow system engineers to overcome complex challenges with greater efficiency and reliability.’
Unique among today’s high-end processors for holding an industrial patent, Newton leverages use FPGA architecture alongside Outline’s proprietary WFIR filtering technology. Its success is driven by a powerful combination of flexibility, reliability and audio quality in a compact 1U-high chassis, and which can be controlled via an intuitive software interface compatible with both Mac and PC.
Newton has been deployed at some of the most high profile events, including Glastonbury and Coachella festivals, as well as on world tours by artists such as Roger Waters, Tool, Snow Patrol, Kenny Chesney and Joe Bonamassa.
At the latest World Youth Day in Lisbon, the challenge of delivering Pope Francis’s message intelligibly to 1.5m pilgrims over a 3km² area was met with the help of just two Outline Newton processors. Configured to manage delay lines of up to 8s – essential to compensate for the site’s vast scale – the Newton units routed audio signals through 103km of fibre-optic cabling coordinating 1,100 loudspeakers deployed on 109 PA towers, driven by 327 amplifiers and connected via 300 network switches.
‘With Newton now in Venezuela, we’re equipping the local market with the same elite technology that drives landmark productions worldwide,’ Morillo concludes. ‘It’s a significant leap that positions our industry on par with the global stage.’
