The latest addition to the DPA Microphones d:facto line, the d:facto II vocal microphone promises ’natural sound, high separation and extreme SPL handling’. In addition to use with the new wired DPA handle, the d:facto II has an adapter system that allows use with many professional wireless systems, including systems from Sony, Lectrosonics, Shure, Wisycom and Sennheiser.
The d:facto II brings better performance than earlier models, with improvements in frequency and phase, both on- and off-axis. Aimed at sound reinforcement and recording applications, the mic will handle a sound level of 160dB, as well as having high gain before feedback, and a robust three-stage pop protection grid to remove unwanted performance noise. It also has good isolation from handling noise.
‘The wireless systems currently available deliver very limited power to drive the capsule, so getting the sound quality we wanted was nearly impossible,’ says DPA Microphones CEO, Christian Poulsen. ’We had to be creative and put a huge amount of work and thought into the electronic circuit of the adapter solution. To my knowledge, no-one else has been able to be so true to the input of the vocalist. We wanted to make the best vocal microphone on the market, and with the d:facto we have reached this goal.’
‘Easy to use, true to the voice, stylish to look at and wonderful to hold, the d:facto II is a true work of art,’ adds Susanne Seidel, Executive VP of Sales & Marketing. ‘With the new microphone, we look forward to making both the singer and sound engineer’s dreams come true. The flexibility of its inventive adapter system gives the user simple and very affordable possibilities of choosing either a wired DPA handle or the professional wireless system of their choosing, with no loss in the sound quality.’
The cabled version of the d:facto II, as well as the adapters for Shure, Sony, Lectrosonics and Wisycom, will be available in February 2013. The adapters for the Sennheiser systems will be available in March 2013.
