FabFilter Pro-MB is a multiband compression/expansion plug-in that promises ‘unique workflow and signal processing advancements’.

FabFilter Pro-MB Key to its operation are the free placement of filter bands within the audio spectrum and a Dynamic Phase processing mode.

Dynamic Phase matches the frequency response of conventional multiband processing and results in a flat phase response when no gain changes are applied, but without introducing latency or pre-ringing effects or static phase distortion. Minor phase changes are introduced only when the gain of a band is modified.

Up to six bands can be created, each offering a choice of downward or upward compression or expansion, together with a full set of dynamics controls – including range, ratio and knee control, as well as lookahead and variable stereo linking. In Expert mode, more advanced features become available: mid- or side-only processing, external side chain triggering, including the option to trigger on a different, freely configurable frequency range.

FabFilter Pro-MB’s user interface allows the creation and placements of bands straightforward, as is adjusting multiple selected bands. At any time, the most important settings for all bands are visible, together with a real-time dynamic gain change curve and spectrum analyser.
