Chandler Limited TG2-500Chandler Limited has announced the TG2-500 preamp, a 500 series module promising ‘the classic sound of the EMI TG12428 preamp used in EMI/Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles in the late 60s and early 70s’.

Using the same circuitry, transistors and transformers as the company’s earlier TG2 preamp, the TG2-500 provides 10-60dB of gain and uses coarse and fine gain controls – as found on EMI consoles. The unit provides 300Ω and 1.2kΩ input impedance as on the TG2. The unit also delivers the same frequency response as the TG2, with the same high-frequency bump and mid forward tone.

The TG2-500 joins the Little Devil pramplifier, Little Devil EQ, Little Devil compressot and Germ 500 MkII in Chandler's 500 series modules.

‘The TG2-500 is a product we’ve been asked about for a number of years,’ says Chandler Limited owner and Chief Product Designer, Wade Goeke. ‘In the past, I commented that I had not yet found the right way to engineer this unit in the 500 series form factor. Now, I’m pleased to report that, after working on this challenge for quite some time and attempting a number of different methods in the process, I’ve made everything work to my satisfaction. I’m glad I was patient because I genuinely believe our users will be pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the results.’
