Designed around a modulatable multimode filter using proprietary Virtual Voltage technology, Waves has released the MetaFilter sound-shaping filter plug-in. The effects unit claims ‘the warmth, depth and fatness of classic analogue filters, with modern control and endless flexibility’.

MetaFilter is designed for both studio and stage use. It allows individual modulation of filter cut-off, resonance and delay time using three separate modulators – 16-step sequencer, LFO and Envelope follower. These can be used in combination to achieve effects such as filter sweeping, tremolo, auto-wah, rhythmic gating, ducking and hypnotic modulating delays with saturation build-ups. Panel controls provide customisation and programming of presets, while Midi Learn capabilities permit the plug-in to be controlled from any Midi control device for live DJ performance.
