TC Electronic has announced the DB4 MkII and DB8 MkII cross-platform broadcast processors.

TC Electronic DB8Conforming to EBU, ATSC and ITU Loudness and True-peak level standards across all platforms and all formats., the MkII versions feature the new EBU R128 and ATSC A/85 compliant LM6 Loudness Meter, new SNMP functions and one week of detailed logging, even without connection to a computer.

In the DB4 MkII, the LM6 meter is always available, in addition to its two multichannel audio processors.

With several thousand units operating constantly and globally, the original DB4 and DB8 processors have established a record of reliability. With the new models, this has been increased through the use of dual power supplies, double fuses, double mains inlets and double Swiss-made Papst fans.

TC Electronic’s DB2, DB4 and DB8 processors allow installations of any size to use the same settings. The DB4 MkII and DB8 MkII maintain this user-friendliness and run presets from original DB4 and DB8 units out of the box.

The DB4 and DB8 processors have also introduced solutions that facilitate multi-platform broadcast (trickle-down processing) from one, low latency frame. The MkII units continue this with functions that work regardless of whether metadata has been correctly set upstream or not.

Synchronous 48kHz sampling and 48-bit processing is used throughout, in combination with massive jitter rejection, to ensure high audio resolution and timing, even when long transmission lines. Hundreds of DB processors can be cascaded without degrading the sound as much as a single pass through HDTV data reduction.

DB-4 MkII/DB-8 MkII main features:

• Compatibility – conform to new EBU, ATSC and ITU Loudness and True-peak level standards across all platforms and all formats.
• LM6 metering – EBU R128 and ATSC A/85 compliant and new SNMP functions.
• Logging – One week of detailed logging, even without connection to a computer.
• Double up – Two power supplies, two fuses, two main inlets and two Swiss-made Papst fans.
• Preset compatibility – Runs original DB4 and DB8 presets right out of the box.
• More Trickle-Down – Work whether metadata has been correctly set upstream or not.
• Mastering quality – 48kHz sampling, 48 bit processing and massive jitter rejection.
