Roland VC-1-SC Video ConverterRoland’s VC-1 Series offers high-quality video and audio converters for live/postproduction as well as installed systems. Lates to join the line is the VC-1-SC Video Converter.

The VC-1-SC is an up/down cross/scan converter to SDI/HDMI with Frame Sync, aimes at live production where analogue or digital sources are required to match a certain SDI and/or HDMI video format, aspect ratio, frame rate or input type.

The VC-1-SC features 3G (Level A and B)/HD/SD SDI in/out, HDMI in/out, RGB/Component input and Composite input as well as HDCP support. Selectable audio embedding and de-embedding enables audio signals from a different source to be placed into the video output. A built-in Frame Synchroniser/Scaler is provided, as well as up/down/cross, frame rate, I/P and aspect ratio conversion. The unit can also be controlled via PC/Mac using the Control Application (VC-1 RCS).

The VC-1-SC also features an onboard re-clocker to compensate for attenuation of SDI signals enabling longer distance runs. It also supports both level A and B 3G-SDI, for connection to or from higher-quality SDI devices. Selectable audio embedding and de-embedding allows routing of different audio sources to or from video devices.

The VC-1-SC is housed in a 2mm aluminum case with connectors screwed to the chassis, as well as offfering HDCP compliance. Unlike the other models in the VC-1 Series, the VC-1-SC is not fully lossless due to its scaling and frame rate conversion functionality.
