Antelope Audio has released the Orion 32HD Gen 3 audio interface, compatible with any DAW via HDX or USB 3.0, and Pro Tools HD- and Native-ready.
The third-generation Orion 32 offers comprehensive connectivity, zero-latency monitoring, 64-channel 24-bit/192 kHz audio, and AD/DA with 136dB of dynamic range. There is a rear-panel USB 3.0 Type B connector (supporting 64 channels of I/O at up to 192kHz) and two mini HDX connectors for direct Pro Tools connection (each offering 32 channels of I/O, totalling 64 channels). Digital I/O is also available over fibre-optic Madi (In and Out – up to 64 channels each), two Adat (Input 1 & 2 and Output 1 & 2 – both with up to 64 channels), and SPDIF. Obligingly, Orion 32HD Gen 3 allows streaming of 64 channels of audio when tracking, alongside multiple monitor mixes. Clocking is provided by Antelope Audio’s 64-bit AFC (Acoustically Focused Clocking) jitter management.
Orion 32HD Gen 3 is well provided with analogue I/O, courtesy of four D-Sub 25 connectors catering to 32 channels of analogue input and four D-Sub 25 connectors catering to 32 channels of analogue output, plus two monitor outputs on quarter-inch TRS jacks.
The coverter comes with a comprehensive collection of circuit-level gear emulations, running in real-time on an integrated FPGA platform. Plucked from Antelope Audio’s FX library, these cover everything needed for recording, mixing and mastering – with access to 20 time-tested, classic equalisers; 13 vintage and modern compressors; and several useful utility effects, including AuraVerb. It uses a colour-coded software routing matrix with four separate mixers, effects chaining and zero-latency monitoring. All are found within an desktop application for macOS and Windows. It is possible to use the software control panel from multiple computers connected over the same network to amplify an already flexible workflow.
Orion 32HD Gen 3 is shipping now with an RRP of US$3,995.
