RCF has announced the Sub 9004-AS, a single 18-inch active subwoofer featuring a hypervented high-power neodymium magnetic circuit with 4-inch voice coil in a vented port design.
The Sub 9004-AS can be matched with RCF’s HDL 30-A – where up to four modules can be stacked on top (horizontal placement), or the HDL 10-A where four can be stacked on top (vertical placement).
In order to dissipate the heat generated by the voice coil, RCF has developed an internal ventilation system with very low power compression. The Hyper Vented System is the result of a complex combination of ventilation ducts in the voice coil former, in the magnetic structure and in the woofer’s basket. In addition, the demodulation rings reduce the harmonic and intermodulation distortion associated with the voice coil displacement and, as input current varies, the system inductance is more linear. The cone is water resistant.
The high-power amplifier is a new design that delivers extended low-frequency performance and integrates a low-noise 32-bit DSP circuit, controlled through the proprietary RCF RDNet network to handle the soft clipping limiters, RMS limits, polarity, amplitude, timing and equalisation. All the settings, monitoring and features are available inside the integrated RDNet Networked Management software. The encoder on the enclosure’s rear adjusts volume, delay and presets.
RDNet is a proprietary protocol for RCF products that provides straightforward monitoring and intuitive control of the audio system down to every device/object. Each device has its DSP, giving the possibility to address specific presets or parameters change to single or groups of objects. A network user can change level, delay, EQs and other parameters, including advanced subwoofer configurations. Not only loudspeakers: it is possible to control routing and parameters of multiple RCF devices, like digital matrixes or amplifiers.
The cabinets are made of high-quality birch plywood with weatherproof treatment. The subs are stackable and lightweight, for easy set-up and tear down. A pole receptacle on the top and side allows the woofer to be used in various configurations. The heavy-duty coating and the rugged structure of the cabinet withstands long-term use and transportation and the separate housing for the amplifier guarantees component efficiency and reliability. Rugged construction makes it suited to A/V rental inventories and reliable installations, both indoor and outdoor.
Transportation is fast thanks to the detachable Kart kit – a dolly caster-board with rugged tour grade casters and rotating cam mechanism.
