Next-proaudio has introduced the LAs118A.v3 (active) and LAs118.v3 (passive) subwoofers.
While visually identical to the the previous LAs118, the v3 model uses a different internal construction. The cabinet has been internally re-engineered from hybrid horn to front-loaded to respond more effectively to lower frequencies. The optimised flare of the tuning port reduces air compression and turbulence especially at very high acoustic pressure levels.
Although the average sensitivity of the new version LAs118 is a little lower than the previous version (about -0.4dB) the SPL in frequencies below 50Hz average 2dB higher.
The v3 version will also use the new Power Module DPA2000.v3 with the same features as the previous version with new advantages such as a reduced fan noise with an internal fan, an increased heat sink efficiency due to front panel redesign, higher humidity immunity due to only internal air flow (no external air source), an USB connection and higher grade heat sink protection paint.
This new design and the dedicated presets were engineered to be compatible with the previous LAs118 version.
