Alto Professional has unveiled its Black Series of top-level loudspeakers, comprising three two-way loudspeaker models and two subwoofers for high-end club installation, mobile DJ and on-the-road applications.
The Black 10, Black 12 and Black 15 (featuring 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch low-frequency drivers) use a 1.75-inch high-frequency driver with a 90° x 60° high-frequency waveguide), and are accompanied by the Black 15 Sub and Black 18 Sub, with 15-inch, and 18-inch drivers respectively.
All models are designed and tuned to in the US with premium matched components, and are wireless enabled – all are remote-controllable via the Live Drive speaker app for iPhone and iPad (free from the App Store), allowing level-matching, EQ adjustment and time-alignment. ‘Wireless control is incredibly useful, especially when the speakers are suspended or hard to get to,’ says Alto Professional Director of Engineering, Bernard Werner. ‘The Live Drive functionality lets you leave the normal mix position to tweak and fine-tune speaker settings via DSP so your system sounds perfect.’
The full-range design includes a built-in mixer with two mic/line inputs, volume controls and a balanced XLR mixed output. The systems are driven by a 2.4kW peak (1.2kW continuous) class-D amplifier.
The loudspeaker systems are housed in a heavy-duty plywood cabinet covered in a rugged, highly-durable, scratch-resistant finish, with a powder-coated steel grille and custom-moulded handles. They also have up to 12 rigging points for overhead suspension, and are multi-angled for use as a floor wedge monitor.
Alongside adjustable level and polarity controls, the Black 15 and Black 18 subwoofers boast stereo inputs – mic/line inputs on the left channel and XLR on the right– as well as XLR outputs with a built-in crossover, eliminating the need for an external unit.
