JBL’s VTX V25 is a full-size, three-way high-directivity line array element, featuring VTX two 2kW 15-inch Differential Drive woofers mounted in die cast aluminium baffles, with four 8-inch Differential Drive midrange transducers and three of the company’s new D2 Dual-Diaphragm Dual-Voice-Coil Compression Drivers mounted on a third-generation waveguide and Radiation Boundary Integrator assembly.

JBL VTX V25The D2 Dual Driver claims ‘an extreme output advantage over conventional systems with significantly higher array power, reduced distortion, double the number of voice coils and more than double the power handling’. This translates to increased high-frequency sound pressure level in a comparablr physical footprint with a 30 per cent reduction in weight.

JBL’s Radiation Boundary Integrator manages the transition between the high-frequency and mid-range sections of the VTX V25. A proprietary, tuned resonant-chamber is integrated into the waveguide, effectively eliminating throat-related cancellations due to back pressure from the mid-range section. VTX’s RBI waveguide implementation provides broader and more stable horizontal coverage.

The unit’s dual voice coil, dual magnetic gap Differential Drive technology used all VTX models, reducing driver weight and improving frequency response, power output and distortion. Heat sinks are integrated into the cast aluminium frame, and the neodymium magnets are placed inside the dual voice coil assembly, completing the magnetic circuit without the heavy surrounding steel structure of conventional drivers.

Rigging, Crown VRack DSP and amplification, and JBL HiQnet Performance Manager configuration and control software complete the system package.

VTX’s SAF. suspension system offers improved hardware for faster set-up with fewer pinning operations and greater security. A custom protective cover and dolly assists transportation. Vertical Transporters are also available allowing for transport of four V25 enclosures or three S28 enclosures in either front-firing or cardioid mode.

The LZ laser installation tool provides focus of VTX V25 arrays for vertical pattern control and audience coverage, and also streamlining the set-up process. A single LZ installed on the top enclosure serves as a visual reference while setting the overall array site angle in accordance with JBL Line Array Calculator (LAC) predictions. Advanced system tuning can manage multiple LZ lasers for individual array circuits, assisting in physical measurement microphone placement to correspond with virtual measurement microphones shown in LAC.
